Career and Technical Education

Assistance to schools in the development and dissemination of curriculum

The Center provides support and updates on the Programs of Study Model adopted by Pennsylvania entitled Students Occupationally and Academically Ready (SOAR).  Click here for information on SOAR.

In addition, the Center provides curriculum and program planning workshops to update career and technical educators on contemporary curricular information as well as V-TECS and MAVCC products that are new, under development, or under revision. Upon request and contingent upon the availability of resources, the Center will provide assistance to career and technical education institutions seeking solutions to curricular-related matters.

The Center also serves as a clearinghouse for information and services for the Commonwealth's MAVCC and V-TECS membership in the 17 counties of the eastern region. Pennsylvania career and technical educators are eligible to receive a 50% discount on MAVCC single copy purchases and a 64% discount on orders of 6 or more copies of the same item. To find out more, visit their web site at to review their product inventory. By having a representative on the MAVCC Board of Directors, Pennsylvania has the opportunity to help establish priorities and influence curricular-related decisions. Information on V-TECS can be obtained at

For over a quarter century, MAVCC has produced high quality award winning, occupationally-specific competency-based curricula. MAVCC was formerly known as the Mid-America Curriculum Consortium, and prior to that, was the Instructional Materials Center at Stillwater, Oklahoma. The MAVCC inventory includes more than 200 products that have been sold in all 50 states and 41 foreign countries.
