Makena Goes to School Makena Toldson is a 9 year old writer who wrote her first published book Makena Goes to School at age five. Makena will be visiting the Norris After School Program on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm for a reading and Q&A session. At an early age, those around her quickly discovered that Makena had a passion for telling stories and could write her stories effortlessly. Makena's stories center around resilience, problem solving, and social and emotional development. 
 
Makena loves to read, write, travel, and play with friends. Makena is active in marathon-running, ballet, tennis, academic competitions, and gymnastics. In her spare time Makena likes to watch movies and play with her little brother, Kaleb. Makena lives in Washington, DC with her parents Ivory and Marshella Toldson.
