Kathleen Kies donned her doctoral robes for more than a dozen graduations. Now, she has mailed her robes to College of Education at Temple University with a note requesting that the university donates her regalia to someone at her alma mater.
Sophia Bermudez, the school’s coordinator for career and student development and special events teamed up with Doreen Conway, the school’s assistant director of graduate academic and student affairs to choose Adrianne Musu Davis to wear the noble robes.
Kies and Davis share similarities in their professional and personal lives. Both women have experience working in the field and aspire to make a change in urban education. Davis’ father is the same age as Kies, who is also battling an illness. Davis’ father, who cannot attend due to health reasons, was able to see his daughter in the doctoral regalia.
