Middle Bucks Institute of Technology Hosts Career and Technical Educators from the United States Virgin Islands

Middle Bucks Institute of Technology welcomed visitors from the United States Virgin Islands to campus on September 16, 2014. The guests included Dr. Daniel McIntosh, Chairman, and Ms. Ileen Heyward, Vice Chair of the Virgin Islands Career and Technical Education Board.

Dr. McIntosh and Ms. Hayward came to MBIT in order to gain insight into how they could update the current career and technical education practices in the Virgin Islands. The visit came about after they were connected to Dr. Robert Clark, Executive Director of the Center for Professional Development in Career and Technical Education, by Mr. Dan Perna, an educational consultant with James Daniel Associates. Mr. Perna has done extensive work throughout the United States and Caribbean territories and was therefore able to assist Dr. McIntosh and Ms. Heyward with networking opportunities.

Middle Bucks Institute of Technology was one of four sites visited by Dr. McIntosh and Ms. Heyward. The other schools were Technical College High School – Brandywine Campus in Downingtown, PA, Lehigh County Technical Institute in Schneckville, PA, and an aviation high school located in Louisville, Kentucky.

As stated by Dr. Clark, “Middle Bucks Institute of Technology was selected by Temple University as a location to visit due to its reputation as a solid career and technology center that excels in the areas of enhanced teacher professional development, industry standards, industry credentials, occupational advisory committees, curriculum development, and equipment acquisition. Middle Bucks has also maintained a strong partnership with the Temple Center for Professional Development in Career and Technical Education for many years.”
