Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

English Language Teaching

Admission to the ELT Graduate Certificate is not available for the Spring, Summer, or Fall 2017 semesters. Have questions? Contact the Office of Enrollment Management at 215-204-0999.

Temple's English Language Teaching Certificate prepares students who are interested in teaching English to adult immigrant learners, international college students, and/or students overseas. Some may already be involved in teaching English as a second language (ESL) in the Writing Center, serve as conversation partners in ESL programs, or volunteer as teachers in community-based ESL programs. Others may anticipate going abroad and teaching English as a foreign language (EFL). Students interested in this program may not be ready to commit themselves to starting a Master’s in TESOL but are keen to acquire basic skills in English language teaching.
