How to Apply

To apply, submit an application along with a fee of $60 to the College of Education and Human Development.

After submitting the application, you will receive instructions on how to submit the additional application materials listed below through your online MyTU account. If you prefer, you may also mail these materials to

You will receive your nine-digit Temple University identification number (TUid) via email once you submit your application for admission. Be sure to include your name and TUid on all documents that you mail to Temple. View a complete set of application instructions for graduate study in the College of Education and Human Development.

Supporting Materials

If you have an undergraduate degree in business or marketing, it is likely you meet these requirements.

  1. Transcripts: Submit official undergraduate and graduate transcripts from all accredited institutions you have attended and/or from which you earned credit. Official transcripts can be emailed to educate@temple.edu or sent to the Office of Enrollment Management address listed above.

  2. Praxis exam scores: For students pursuing the Business, Computer and Information Technology Education or Marketing Education concentrations, submit official score reports demonstrating a passing score on the Praxis test code 5511: Fundamental Subjects: Content Knowledge. Additionally, to be eligible for certification, all applicants must pass the relevant Praxis® Subject Assessment in their intended concentration area. Although not required, we recommend that applicants pass the subject-area test prior to admission.
    • Test code 5101: Business Education: Content Knowledge
      • Pennsylvania qualifying score: 154
    • Test code 5561: Marketing Education
      • Pennsylvania qualifying score: 144
  3. Goals statement: In 500 to 1,000 words, outline your interest in seeking a master’s degree with a specific focus on the career to which you aspire, your interests, and your academic and job-related experiences that are relevant to the program.
  4. Prerequisites
    1. Non-concentration - Work Experience: You must show valid technical expertise in the area for which you are seeking certification by taking and passing the Occupational Competency Assessment (OCA). The OCA is taken at Temple University’s Center for Professional Development in Career and Technical Education. 

    2. Business, Computer and Information Technology or Marketing Education Concentrations - Coursework: Your transcript should show coursework in each of the following areas.

      • Business communications
      • Computer and information technology
      • Economics and personal finance
      • Law, entrepreneurship and international business
      • Management and marketing concepts
      • Quantitative skills and accounting
  5. Recommendations: Submit two letters of reference that provide insight into your academic competence. References from college or university faculty members are recommended. You may request recommendations through your MyTU account or send them using the paper Reference for Graduate Study (pdf) to the above mailing address.
     
  6. Résumé: A current professional résumé is required.
