Ph.D. in Education

PhD in Education with Concentration in Literacy & Learners

The Interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program in Education with a concentration in Literacy & Learners prepares students to contribute new knowledge to the field of literacy learning. The program defines literacy learning broadly. Students can focus on various aspects of language and literacy from their developmental foundations in childhood and early schooling to how older children, adolescents, and adults learn and apply them in different contexts.

Our work with doctoral students is grounded in our dual beliefs that education is a primary mechanism for social justice and that educational research has the capacity to improve the material conditions of people’s lives.
