The landscape of school and school district leadership has changed dramatically over time with the establishment of Charter Schools and Cyber Charter Schools, the utilization of synchronous and asynchronous learning modalities, the emergence of online adaptive learning programs, and ongoing challenges with hiring, staffing and retention in schools in urban centers. These changes and the ongoing impact of teaching and learning losses resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic place unique and unprecedented demands on school leaders generally, and on urban school leaders in particular. Students in the educational leadership graduate programs work in many different settings and school organizations with various structures of governance. Recognizing the complexity of the role played by school and district leaders, Temple prepares students to step forward to lead schools and communities as teacher leaders, assistant principals, principals, curriculum supervisors, assistant superintendents and superintendents.
