Temple University students are eligible to apply to participate in the School L.I.F.E. Project. Pre-service teachers can apply to enroll in the Early and Elementary Education and English as a Second Language Dual Certification Program. Through the School L.I.F.E. Project, Temple University early and elementary education students:
- Are eligible for a scholarship to earn the Pennsylvania English as a Second Language (ESL) Program Specialist Certificate.
- Receive a subsidized residency in one of the project’s partner schools of $10,000.
- Receive in-state tuition remission for two ESL dual certification courses.
- Are matched with a mentor teacher receiving synchronized and aligned professional development to support high-quality, culturally relevant and sustaining practices for MLEs.
- Importantly, all placements are at partnership schools with leadership teams dedicated to supporting all teachers of MLEs.
