Biography

ShaVon Savage is an educator that continually invests in students, their families and communities. She began her career as a teacher in the School District of Philadelphia and moved on to teach in a charter school. Mrs. Savage then obtained her law degree and served as a school law attorney, representing a variety of school entities in various areas, including public finance, civil rights, special education and employment matters. Upon concluding her full-time legal practice, she returned to education as a district-level administrator, supporting and supervising special education and student services programs in suburban and urban school districts, as well as a charter management organization. In addition, Mrs. Savage served as the principal of Henry C. Lea Elementary School in the School District of Philadelphia, a university partnership school, and then moved into the position of deputy chief of the Office of Specialized Services. Just prior to joining Temple, she served as the deputy superintendent of academic services for the district.

In her various roles, Mrs. Savage has supported the development and preparation of principals and their leadership teams. Her most recent work has focused on developing school and district administrators as the key lever of change in school management and teacher effectiveness. She is a fierce advocate for children and seeks to ensure education leaders develop the understanding and skill sets to serve all children.
