Clearances

Clearances are background checks required for students participating in fieldwork, internships, clinical experiences, and other educational or professional experiences that involve working with children, adolescents, or other vulnerable populations. These clearances help ensure the safety and well-being of individuals and communities with whom students interact while completing their academic and professional preparation.

Background checks for individuals working with minors are mandated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania through Act 24 of 2011, Act 34 of 1985, Act 114 of 2006, and Act 151 of 2006. Compliance with the following Temple University College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) policies and practices is required for all students completing fieldwork or other experiential learning activities as a course requirement.
