C-R-E-A-T-E is the College of Education and Human Development’s newest Center for Reimagining Excellence, Access, and Transformation in Education. Our center is dedicated to meeting the educational needs of young people, their families, and their educators. In collaboration with the community, our programs and initiatives grow and advance learning opportunities for children and adults in Philadelphia, the region, and beyond.

  • The Pennsylvania Teacher Education CRSE Initiative, commonly referred to as the CRSE communities of practice (COPs), brings together cohorts of teacher educators, preK-12 teachers, and district leaders to collaborate, share resources and strategies, and strengthen CRSE in Pennsylvania. 
  • TheDiversifying Early Education Leadership (DEEL) Fellowship, funded by the William Penn Foundation, aims to enrich the leadership of Philadelphia’s early childhood education community.
  • CREATE’S Early Childhood and Elementary Educator Workforce equity work sits alongside the ECE teacher certification program to offer inclusive, research-based, and community-focused initiatives to support pre-service and in-service early childhood educators. 
  • Our Early Pipeline and Educator Development Initiatives  are focused on various collaborations regarding the recruitment and retention of teachers for Philadelphia and Pennsylvania. 
  • Future Focus at Temple University, sponsored by Career Connected Learning Philadelphia (C2L-PHL), is a career exploration summer camp at Temple University! Future Focus is for rising 7th, 8th, and 9th graders that provides students with career exposure opportunities, hands-on experience and project-based learning.
  • Grandma’s Kids is an after-school program that serves children in formal or informal kinship placement, foster care, and single parent households.
  • Jumpstart is a national early childhood organization that advances learning outcomes by recruiting and supporting caring adults to deliver high-quality programming to young children.
  • Temple Education Scholars (TES) is a year-long dual enrollment program designed for college-bound high school seniors to take up to 5 education courses at Temple University in a supportive environment.
  • TempleCares Bridge to Employment is a workforce development program that provides professional development, industry-recognized credentials, and paid work experiences to North Philadelphia youth ages 17-24 who are interested in entering the healthcare industry.
  • The Temple Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math & Science programs are federally funded college access programs designed to provide first-generation, low-income, and/or students at academic risk the supports needed to pursue and be successful through a college degree.
