Temple offers a vibrant array of high-quality academic programs in education research and practice that help students become effective educators. Our programs prepare students for careers as urban and international teachers, counselors, school leaders, education researchers, higher education professionals, school psychologists and more. Each area may include one or more undergraduate majors, graduate degrees, certificates, certification pathways or accelerated +1 options. Accomplished Teaching

Explore your academic and professional interests while pursuing additional certifications through the MSEd in Accomplished Teaching, a degree specifically designed for current classroom teachers.

Adult Learning, Training and Organizational Development

The Adult Learning, Training and Organizational Development programs prepare students to design, deliver and evaluate learning, training and organizational development initiatives for adult learners in workplaces, nonprofit organizations, community settings and higher education.

Applied Behavior Analysis

The Applied Behavior Analysis programs prepare graduates to apply the concepts and principles of behavior analysis in a variety of fields.

Applied Research and Evaluation

Focus on research and development within educational and organizational settings to address changing work expectations in the “Education Industry” beyond the Pre-K-16 realm, in Applied Research and Evaluation.

Career & Technical Education

Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs provide individuals with career and technical backgrounds with the skills necessary to teach a subject within their occupation.

Counseling Psychology

Gain certification and prepare for a career as an individual, group or school counselor through the MEd in Counseling Psychology.

Early Childhood and Elementary Education (Gr. PreK-4)

Early Childhood and Elementary Education (grades PreK-4) prepares teachers to work in programs serving children in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, primary and early intermediate grades.

Educational Leadership

The Educational Leadership programs are grounded in the social justice mission of the college and uniquely focused on urban schooling, school leadership, urban education in the broader community and the policies implemented that impact schools and schooling in urban centers. The programs prepare students to apply effective practices for ethical and equitable leadership in schools, school districts and community systems.

Educational Psychology

Educational Psychology expands, transmits, and integrates theory, research, and practice regarding learning, cognition, and human development as they apply to educational processes and practices.

Higher Education

Become an expert in how to spur change to meet college completion goals and improve equity in student postsecondary outcomes through Temple's Higher Education programs. These programs prepare you to strengthen the role of higher education and create environments that are conducive to student success — from foundational coursework through advanced study.

Human Development and Community Engagement

Build a solid foundation in child development, intercultural communication, organization leadership, research methods and urban education, with an emphasis on service outside the classroom in the Human Development and Community Engagement major.

Middle Grades Education (Gr. 4-8)

Middle Grades Education prepares you to teach in grades 4-8. In addition to becoming certified to teach all elementary subjects in grades 4-6, students can pursue single or dual certification for grades 7-8.

Policy and Organizational Studies

Deepen your understanding of how to manage the change process within educational, community or other types of organizational systems with the Policy and Organizational Studies PhD program.

School Psychology

The School Psychology EdS and PhD programs provide students with a thorough understanding of the science of psychology to support individuals academically, emotionally, and socially and to help determine the future of the school psychology profession.

Secondary Education (Gr. 7-12)

The Secondary Education programs focus on building advanced content and specific pedagogical knowledge aligned to the needs of students in grades 7-12. 

Special Education

Special Education programs prepare both practicing teachers and those new to the field to develop evidence-based, inclusive instructional practices that improve outcomes for children with disabilities. Options include advanced study for currently certified teachers, as well as a pathway to earn Instructional I certification in special education.

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

TESOL prepares students to take leadership roles in language education; teach at the elementary, secondary, post-secondary or adult level; or become scholars, administrators, language policy makers, curriculum developers or experts in language assessment.

Urban Education

Learn how professionals involved in adult literacy, after school programs, community development, community organizing, community-based education and family centers can create and lead models of change within their schools and beyond in an Urban Education program.
