Introducing Our New Associate Deans
- Christine Woyshner, Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Affairs
Woyshner, an education historian, focuses on the role of voluntary organizations in shaping schools and curriculum. Her current research explores how African American civic associations served as sites of teaching and learning in Black communities in the early 20th century. - Kristie Newton, Associate Dean for Educator Preparation and P-12 Partnerships
Newton's research centers on the development of mathematical knowledge, particularly in fractions and algebra. She has extensive experience teaching mathematics and conducting professional development for educators. - Jennifer Johnson, Associate Dean of Student Success
Johnson is a scholar-practitioner specializing in college access and student success. With a background in science and mathematics, she has experience as a middle school teacher, counselor, and advisor for college access programs.
Introducing Our New Department Chair
- Wanda M. Brooks, Department Chair in Teaching and Learning
Brooks' research focuses on how African American adolescents engage with diverse literature and the analysis of African diaspora literature for youth. She has published extensively and previously taught middle grades language arts in public schools.
