On December 6th, Dr. Sara Goldrick-Rab, professor of higher education policy and sociology and several students attended the first legislative briefing on college and student hunger on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Dr. Goldrick-Rab and her students were joined by influential speakers such as Amy Ellen Duke-Benfield with the Center for Law and Social Policy, Keyona Cooper of North Carolina Central University, and Jalyn Wharton of Kennesaw State University. Pennsylvania representatives Tina Davis and Paul Lawson attended to hear the perspectives of university professors, researchers, and students who were working to address food insecurity in college students.
