Our work with preservice teachers, inservice teachers, and doctoral students is grounded in the belief that education is a primary mechanism for social mobility and social justice. As a consequence, we seek to conduct research and prepare doctoral students to do research that has the potential to improve learning and teaching, especially of historically underserved populations. We seek also to provide our inservice and preservice teachers with deep understandings of research and theory that will help them become reflective practitioners who are committed to serving diverse students and to becoming educational leaders and agents of change in whatever setting they teach.
Continuous Improvement for Future Teachers
The College of Education and Human Development at Temple University is dedicated to preparing new teachers who, regardless of where they teach – whether in urban, rural, or suburban schools; district-operated, charter, independent, private, or parochial schools – are prepared with the most current, evidence-based knowledge and skills to ensure that all children achieve to high academic standards and develop as adults who can meaningfully contribute to society.
