Amanda Guld Fisher, assistant professor in the College of Education and Human Development, has announced the release of her recent book regarding assessment and intervention for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She co-authored the book with Jessica Glass Kendorski, professor at Philadelphia College for Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) and a graduate of Temple's School Psychology program. Childhood Autism Spectrum Disorder: Evidence-Based Assessment and Intervention is focused on examining the historical and current practices in developing interventions for children with ASD and serves as a practical guide for students and practitioners alike. The book utilizes approaches in applied behavior analysis as the basis for treatment. Fisher emphasizes that "[the] goal for this book was to create a concise, and approachable guide to autism for students, parents, and practitioners. The body of research related to autism can be overwhelming and difficult to synthesize. We wanted to summarize the current best practices in assessment and intervention, emphasizing a behavior analytic approach, and provide an easy-to-use resource for those caring for individuals diagnosed with autism."

As the field of behavior analysis and intervention continues to grow, the availability of evidence-based strategies for practitioners has become critical to success in the field, making Fisher's and Kendorski's contribution that much more valuable to those entering the field.

The book is available to order via Amazon.com and Momentum Press.
