Learn to Teach by Observing and Teaching within Classrooms

  • Gain valuable hands-on teaching experience in urban middle or secondary school classrooms immediately at the outset of the program and for an entire academic year
  • Share your knowledge of and enthusiasm for science, mathematics or Spanish with students
  • Develop the knowledge and skills to deliver high-quality education for students with disabilities  
  • Observe and teach in different classroom contexts, subjects and grade levels

Receive Ongoing Professional Support During and After the Program

  • Work with an experienced mentor teacher, university-appointed coach, faculty members and program staff members

  • Join a cohort of peers who will support and motivate each other during and beyond the residency year
  • Receive ongoing professional development, including an initial week-long summer institute and post-graduation support
  • Commit to three years of science, mathematics, Spanish or special education teaching (grades 4-12) in a high-need school in Philadelphia
