Description of Fieldwork Requirement

ECED 2187
Practicum for Pre-K and Kindergarten

Complete 5 hours of fieldwork, one day per week for approximately 14 weeks. Students will observe classroom management, work with small groups, and create/implement small group instruction plans in Pre- Kindergarten and/or Kindergarten classrooms. Students complete fieldwork hours during the assigned class time on Tuesdays.

Practicum for the Primary Grades

Complete 5 hours of fieldwork, one day per week for approximately 14 weeks. Students will observe classroom management, work with small and large groups, and create/implement two lessons (one math lesson and one science lesson. Students will complete fieldwork in an inclusive 1st-4th grade classroom with at least 3 English Language Learners. Students complete fieldwork hours during the assigned class time on Wednesdays.

Practicum II for the Primary Grades

Complete 5 hours of fieldwork, one day per week for approximately 14 weeks. Students will observe classroom management, work with small and large groups, and create/implement two lessons (both in literacy). Students will complete fieldwork in an inclusive 1st-4th grade classroom with at least 3 English Language Learners. Students complete fieldwork hours during the assigned class time on Wednesdays.

Practicum for Diverse Learners

Complete approximately 2.5-3 hours of fieldwork, one day per week for approximately 14 weeks. Students will observe classroom management, work with small groups, provide instructional support, and teach 6 brief instructional strategy sessions that they have planned during the semester in collaboration with their host teacher. Students will complete fieldwork in an inclusive Pre-K-12th grade classroom.

Classroom Management & Positive Behavior Support

Complete 1 hour per week for approximately 10 weeks in an inclusive classroom. Students will observe classroom management, provide instructional support, collect data related to challenging behavior, collect progress monitoring data, and develop FBA and BIP for target student. Students may complete fieldwork for this course in their placement for SPED 3287 or Student Teaching classroom.

Students will observe classroom management, provide instructional support, work with small groups, and create/implement a lesson in their content classroom with at least 3 English Language Learners. Students enrolled in ECED 3187 will coordinate TESL hours in their practicum classroom.
