School Sites
The school sites with which the College of Education and Human Development partners for the field placements of its pre-service teachers exhibit the following characteristics:
- have structures to identify and support diverse individual student needs
- are led by principals who:
- value the voices and leadership of teachers
- model modern-day instructional leadership
- collaborate with various stakeholders in efforts to realize the school community's vision for the school
- seek opportunities to increase the school's effectiveness and impact as a result of the school's partnership with Temple's College of Education and Human Development
- promote respect
- offer diversity
School district administrators and/or school principals who are interested in pursuing a partnership with Temple's College of Education and Human Development for the placements of pre-service teachers should contact edfield@temple.edu to schedule an exploratory conversation.
Mentor Teachers
The mentor teachers with whom the College of Education and Human Development partners for the field placements of its pre-service teachers exhibit the following characteristics:
- model relentless pursuit of educational equity
- demonstrate teacher leadership
- demonstrate practice that is instructionally sophisticated
- manage a classroom environment that is inviting to and provides appropriate challenges for pre-service teachers
- collaborate with Temple's College of Education and Human Development to ensure pre-service teachers' success
- promote respect
- offer diversity
- are willing mentors to pre-service teachers
- have 3+ years of teaching experience (Mentor Teachers) as a PA certified teacher
Teachers who are interested in hosting Temple's pre-service teachers for their field placements should alert their school principals of their interest. They can also email edfield@temple.edu alerting Temple of their interest in order to inform our communications with school principals and districts about placements.
